With the recent shutdown of the 3G mobile network in Australia, many devices that previously relied on 3G connectivity are now at risk of losing service—this includes The 4G Life Alert Personal Alarms. If your alarm's firmware hasn’t been updated since it was purchased, it might still be trying to connect to the 3G network, making it non-functional when you need it most.
Some 4G personal alarms come pre-installed with firmware designed to connect over both 3G and 4G networks. When some of these devices were manufactured, 3G was widely available, and the alarms were programmed to prioritise 3G for calls. Now, with the 3G shutdown, any outdated firmware can prevent the device from correctly switching to 4G, potentially leaving you without a reliable connection.
The good news is that the Keep Track 4G Personal Alarms can be easily updated to switch entirely to the 4G network for calls and alerts. The last firmware update switches over the device to connect to the 4G networks of Telstra and Optus.
